Reut Dafna, born in 1981 in Moshav Sharona in the Lower Galilee, specializes in figurative oil painting and charcoal powder drawing. She currently lives and creates in Kibbutz Maoz Haim in the Valley of Springs.
A graduate of plastic arts studies at the Tel-Hai Art Institute and holds a bachelor’s degree. Reut studied classical drawing with Avinoam Kosowsky and oil painting with Elie Shamir.
Dafna has had a solo exhibition at the Uri and Rami Nehoshtan Museum, and her works have been displayed at Fresh Paint Art Fair, Scope Miami Art Show, and in various solo and group exhibitions. Her works are included in private and public collections in Israel and around the world.
Dafna specializes in the technique of charcoal powder drawing, a process that involves creating multiple layers to add depth and effects of shades and textures, making the figures and subjects she paints appear alive and breathing on paper.
Her inspiration mainly comes from the people and landscapes surrounding her in daily life. In recent years, she has focused on paintings based on old photographs from family albums and the kibbutz archive where her partner grew up. Through her contemporary paintings and depictions of past kibbutz life, she provides a glimpse into life then and now, creating a sense of belonging and connection to the community and the stories behind the images.
